How children play with it
The child stamps three dots, then the plus sign, then four dots, the equals sign, then seven dots. Alongside, the numerals are stamped, all in the same colour as the quantities. Suddenly the sum becomes visible: 3 + 4 = 7. Abstract numbers become countable quantities. Groups are sorted with the plus sign – rows are stamped with the multiply sign.
