How children explore with it

The thermometer dips into cold tap water, then warm water from the kettle. Children read the scale, compare and record. They dunk it in the sandpit on a summer afternoon, in the soil of the nursery garden, into a glass of ice water — and discover that temperature can be measured, compared and captured in numbers.
