How Children Play with It

In March the first crocus sits on the pale green section, in December a little evergreen on the deep blue. Children journey through the year with their eyes, place matching materials on the months, feel the warm wool beneath their fingers. The mat becomes a stage for stories, a resting place for quiet moments, the heart of circle time.
