How Children Play With It
The bus stops at the first card: 3 passengers get on. At the next: 2 more. How many are on the bus? The child counts the passengers inside, says 5 – correct. When they get off, they’re already subtracting. The dice create chance, the cards provide structure. What begins as play quickly reinforces the child’s mental picture of number relationships.
