How children play with it
The sand timer is flipped over – the coloured sand flows slowly and evenly downwards. Can I watch TV for five more minutes? The sand timer answers visually. Children watch how the upper pile shrinks, how the lower one grows. First reaching the middle, then the lower third, finally just a few grains left. Time becomes tangible – the crucial step before learning to read clocks.
