How Children Use Them

Clay sits in the syringe, thumb presses, and the clay extrudes out — as spaghetti, as worms, as hair on a little clay figure. With the pepper-pot tip, grass appears on the meadow, fur on the animal, straw on the farmyard. Hand and eye work together, the mechanism is mastered. Modelling evolves from simple clay-pressing to detailed creation.
