Step by step
- Fill the advent boot calendar with small surprises or activity cards
- Hang the boots up visibly in the group room
- Stamp the date together every morning with the wooden stamp
- Keep using the counting board all year for weekdays and seasons
- Let the year wheel continue with the counting board after the advent season
Safety first
- Choose age-appropriate small fillings for the boots, no swallowable small parts for under-3s
- Stamp ink is washable, but still avoid contact with eyes and mouth
- Fix the hanging of the boots securely and child-safely
Variations
- Use the counting board year-round as a weekly calendar in the morning circle, independent of advent
- Get a second boot calendar set for several groups so each has its own ritual
Our tips
- Institutions can order on invoice, handy for the recurring advent-season equipment every year
- The counting board is a good way to introduce children to concepts of time throughout the year
