Step by step
- Lay out the letter beads for the name in the right order
- Cut the cord to approx. 25 cm and fasten one end to the clip
- Thread spacer beads and letters alternately
- Check the total length against the clip regularly as you go
- Finish with a double knot, pull tight and trim the cord end
- Measure the finished length including the clip: maximum 22 cm
Safety first
- Total length including clip no more than 22 cm, in line with EN 12586
- Never use while sleeping, in the cot or in the pram without supervision
- Never lengthen the chain or add extra cord
- Attach the clip to clothing only, never worn as a cord around the neck
- Check knots, beads and clip for a firm fit before every use
Variations
- For twins: two chains in different bead colours, same name in upper/lower case
- Use a silicone clip instead of a wooden one for the teething stage
